Professionalism among the Pupil Teachers: A six-sigma Approach in Teacher Education

Education is a process of acquiring and being able to apply knowledge. It also refers to the process of learning. It is very contextual and qualitative in nature. Today, in the technologically advanced scenario, quality education is the paramount need of every nation. It is the responsibility of teachers to provide opportunities, nurture capabilities and maximize learning for quality output. They should acquire professionalism. Possessing professionalism through experiences during service period is very risky, time consuming and might not be successful while, inculcating these skills during pre service training could be promising and quality oriented.
As training is entirely different from teaching, it is the molding up of personality according to the desired or required skills for that particular job world, it must inculcate professionalism among the trainers. It is thus inevitable to make teachers understand the requirements of the teaching profession. Therefore, an attempt was taken to design an innovative assessment process for the performance of pupil teachers. This design is based on six sigma approach used for quality management. The project was conducted in a Self Financed Teachers Education Institute, Yamunanagar. It was carried on 56 pupil teachers studying in the institute. Mixed type of approach was used for data collection. The result shows very promising achievements. The work recommends six sigma approaches in education sector for quality output.

PEACE EDUCATION: AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF CURRICULUM

The investigator conducted a study to know the awareness level of Peace Education among college teachers in Mumbai University. A sample of 547 of Social Science, Medical Science, Engineering, and Education college teachers was selected randomly. Self made tool was used. This tool consisting of four dimensions of Peace Education Conflict Resolution, Non-violence, Human Rights, National Integration. The awareness level of college teachers was analyzed on the basis of faculty and four aspects of peace education. The findings revealed that all the college teachers were aware about Peace education. Significant difference was found in the awareness about peace education as well as dimensions of peace education conflict resolution, non-violence, human rights and national integration. Teachers from education faculty are more aware about peace education than the other three faculties.

A STUDY OF SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT OF LEARNING DISABLED STUDENTS

The present study is aimed at finding out the social adjustment of learning disabled students from elementary classes ( classes 6,7 and 8). A sample of 140 students was taken from rural and urban areas of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. It was hypothesised that there will be no significant difference between male and female students regarding their social adjustment. Results also proved that the male and female students from rural areas did not have a difference in their social adjustment but the students from urban areas showed a significant difference in their social adjustment .

A STUDY OF EFFECT OF HOME ENVIRONMENT ON STUDENT'S PERSONALITY IN DISTRICT BHIWANI (HARYANA)

The study was held to know the effect of home environment on student\'s personality in district Bhiwani (HARYANA). The study was conducted on a sample of 76 students of grade 12 studying in 5 schools in Bhiwani. For data collection three research instruments (A personality inventory developed by EYSENCK and Index of family relation constructed by Hudson (1982)and a demographic variable information Proforma) were used. Ten null hypotheses were tested to find out the effect of home environment, socio economic status, family relations, birth order and family type on student\'s personality. Data was analyzed by using (ANOVA –one way) and t test. It is found that there was a significant effect of home environment, socioeconomic status, birth order, family type and family relations was found on the extroversion factor as well as neuroticism factor of student’s personality

KINEMATIC COMPARISON OF TWO DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES OF FRONT FLIP TUCK (FORWARD SOMERSAULT TUCK) ON FLOOR EXERCISE IN MEN’S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS

Front flip (forward tuck somersault) is one of the fundamental skills taught in the early stage in the competitive Gymnastics career of a Gymnast. The purpose of this study was to investigate kinematic comparison of two different techniques (Russian technique V/s Japanese techniques) of front flip tuck on floor in men’s artistic gymnastics. A total of five (n = 5) best male gymnasts of 18 to 23 years old from L.N.I.P.E., Gwalior (M.P.); who had mastery on both the techniques were selected for the present study as subjects. To acquire kinematical data, a digital Nikon D-3100 video recording camera with a frame rate of 30 frames per second, were used during the execution by placing it left side of the subjects(gymnasts) and perpendicular to the sagittal plane. From the video, the photograph of selected three phases (i.e. take off phase, flight phase and landing phase) were obtained by using snipping tool software. The digitization of the photographic sequence of selected phases was done with the help of kinovea software and the selected angular kinematic variables were obtained at take off phase, flight phase and landing phase. The centre of gravity of required phases was located by using segmentation method (Hey, 1993). The paired t-test was used for the kinematic comparison of both the techniques of front flip tuck at each phase. The level of significance

Air pollution-smoke and other airborne particles-has accompanied the growth of industrialization since its early days. However, in the last two decades overwhelming evidence has begun to accumulate that polluted air is a serious threat to the quality of life, even to man\'s continued existence itself; projections of economic growth and population expansion to the year 2000 pose the threat of a vast increase in the already high level of air pollution unless effective measures are taken to control it. It is in recognition of both the present and potential costs to society that increased importance has been given to the devising of means to detect, control and abate air pollution. It is also becoming clear that because of the damage to life and property, expenditures on air pollution control and abatement are as essential to society, if not to individual polluters, as investment in education, urban renewal, and other investment in social capital.The present study was aims to investigate the concept of environmental awareness in air pollution of under graduate college students of Purulia District. Concept and attitude of environment awareness in air pollution measure by questionnaire was used to assess their environment awareness. The data were analyzed with the help of statistical techniques like mean, Standard deviation and t-value. The result of Analysis shows that, there exists significant difference in air pollution awareness among college student. Science students are more aware than commerce and arts students in air pollution.

It is obvious that in the world scenario the teacher education had varied beginnings as to their thinking and imagination. Its development has been promoted according to their socio-cultural and political set ups. Teacher education in every country is neglected due to ignorance. There are several pitfalls in this field. In spite of all these, it is true that teacher education in India is progressing as compare to other countries in the world. But it is said that “If we educate a boy, we educate one individual, if we educate one girl, we educate the whole family and if we educate one teacher, we educate the whole community.’’
It is said that, teacher is a ‘friend, philosopher and guide’ or ‘facilitator and manager’. If we introspect ourselves some questions raise: Does the teacher education institution provide this opportunity? Do we want really some changes in teacher education? Are we happy with present conditions of teacher education? Do we think about it? If yes, then how much time we think! Do we take accountability in our work? Do we have sincerity? Is there any synchronization of our words and deeds? Is there any hidden agenda? Do we look transparency in work? Do we love our profession? Are we open to every situation? Do we have excellence in our life? Do we have a good work culture? Do we have a positive attitude? Do we enjoy our profession?
Certainly, the answer is No. Then, how do we want Excellency in teacher education! Opening more teacher education institutions for the sake of accessibility only will not sufficient. Along with this development of quality administration, quality management, quality curriculum, quality faculty, quality environment etc. are needed

CREATIVE THINKING ABILITY OF PRIMARY SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS - A COMPARATIVE STUDY

The present study focuses on the creative thinking ability of the primary school students with reference to their gender and type of school. In this context data were collected from 100 government ((50 boys & 50 girls) and 100 private primary (50 boys & 50 girls) school students. The study was conducted with the objectives like to compare the creative thinking ability of primary school boys and girls, to compare the creative thinking ability of government and private primary school students, to compare the creative thinking ability of government primary school boys and girls, to compare the creative thinking ability of private primary school boys and girls, to compare the creative thinking ability of government and private primary school boys, and to compare the creative thinking ability of government and private primary school girls. The findings of the study are the primary school boys and girls, students of government and private primary schools, government primary school boys and girls, government and private primary school boys differ significantly on their creative thinking ability whereas the private primary school boys and girls, and the government and private primary school girls do not differ significantly on their creative thinking ability.

The advent of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has brought out many paradigm shifts in the Teaching-learning process. But the approach taken by many teachers in universities today is simply a result of the way they were taught. Typically university education has been a place to learn theoretical knowledge devoid of context. The roles which are expected to be played by teachers are The Process Facilitator, The Advisor-Counselor, The Assessor, The Researcher, The Manager-Administrator, The Designer, The Technologist And The Content Facilitator. Teachers should promote active learning thus Numerous instructional strategies may be considered when implementing the principles of active learning and these are Anchored Instruction, Collaborative learning, Problem-based learning, Cognitive apprenticeships and Case-based instruction. The university teacher can no longer confine his attention to his own private study and to the narrow world of his own student. With the new conception of the wider duties and responsibilities, the duties and responsibilities of university teacher have also expanded.

A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON SELECTED FITNESS COMPONENTS OF 13-19 YEARS FEMALE BASKETBALL AND VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS

The Word \'Sport\' comes from the old French word called Desport which means "Leisure", but this word has changed its connotation with the passing time. Now sports are no longer believed to be practiced only in leisure time. Today they are one of the major parameters to judge a country\'s development and growth and are fast becoming great career options for the future generations. The purpose of the study is to observe the Difference in Hand - Eye Co-Ordination, Accuracy, Agility Hand Explosive Strength, and Leg Explosive Strength between Female Basketball Players & Volleyball Players. A total of Twenty Two (22) Female subjects were selected for this study. Out of them 11 were from Basketball, 11 were from Volleyball. The ages of the subjects were 13-19 years old. Selected Fitness Components of the subjects were the criterion measure for the present study. Selected Fitness Components were: This included- leg Explosive Strength, Hand Explosive Strength, Hand Eye Coordination, Agility and Accuracy. The leg Explosive Strength was measured by Vertical jump. Hand Explosive Strength was measured by putting the Shot. Hand Eye Coordination was measured by Rebound Ball Test. Accuracy was measured by Accuracy test. Agility was measured by (4x10 mts.) Shuttle Run. In respect of Accuracy, Agility, Hand Explosive Strength, leg Explosive Strength, there were no significant difference Between Female Basketball and Volleyball Group. In respect of Hand –Eye coordination Female group of Basketball players were better than the volleyball players of Female group.

Since the days of the Civil War (1861-1865) Afro-Americans came on the forefront of American literary scene. Many Northern American writers had tried to present the suppressed and meaningless life of Afro-Americans in their writings. But they are not able to capture the psyche of Afro-American community. Even after hundred years of Civil War illegal practices like lynching, castration, and racial discrimination were going on. In the decade of 1960, Afro-Americans had united themselves and fought vigorously for their rights. They won their battle and in this win the Afro-American writers have played a crucial role. They make their suffering visible in front of their readers. Dense in style, Afro-American writings used many allusions, their own past history and myths. This paper tries to explore how Toni Morrison has presented the grotesque system of racism in her novel Song of Solomon. In this paper I have also tried to present how Morrison has presented Afro-Americans quest for identity to counter argue racism in Song of Solomon.

All dimensions of environment play important role to provide experiences necessary to generate personality traits, adjustment and varied levels of aspirations including educational aspiration. The educational policies, and various scholastic and co-scholastic activities are performed as accordance with norms and guidelines prescribed by various educational boards both established by central Government such as Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi and state Governments such as Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh Allahabad. There are vast differences in practices conducted in the secondary schools affiliated to both scholastic and co-scholastic areas between Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi and state Governments such as Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh Allahabad. Present study may be implicated to find correlation between personality traits, adjustment and educational aspiration and therefore create suitable environment at secondary level for appropriate personality development, adjustment and enhancement of aspiration levels to ensure quality education and holistic development of secondary students.

FINANCIAL SECTOR REFORMS IN INDIA AND CHALLENGES AHEAD

Due to inefficiencies of the financial sector and the economic policies in India faced severe foreign crisis in 1991. To overcome the crisis, the then government of India opted for liberlisation and privatization. The financial sector reforms were introduced in the year 1991. The financial sector reforms brought in a significant growth for the Indian economy and the financial sector showed a significant improvement in the performance. As a result of implementation of various prudential norms related to provisioning requirements, income recognition assets classification and capital adequacy of banking institutions, the financial institutions became more safe, strong and profitable. However, over the last couple of years, the Indian financial system has started experiencing some challenges. These include mounting Non Performing Assets of banks, lack of liquidity, multiplicity of regulations and lack of proper service quality. This paper is aimed to describe precisely various financial sector reforms and the current issues pertaining to the Indian financial system.

Pervasive systems must offer an open, extensible, and evolving portfolio of services which integrate sensor data from a diverse range of sources. The core challenge is to provide appropriate and consistent adaptive behaviors for these services in the face of huge volumes of sensor data exhibiting varying degrees of precision, accuracy and dynamism. Situation identification is an enabling technology that resolves noisy sensor data and abstracts it into higher-level forms that are interesting to applications. This paper provide a comprehensive analysis of the nature and characteristics of situations, discuss the complexities of situation identification, and review the techniques that are most popularly used in modeling and inferring situations from sensor data. We compare and contrast these techniques, and conclude by identifying some of the open research opportunities in the area.

The Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector is a corner stone of the Indian economy. This sector touches every aspect of human life. The FMCG producers now realize that there is a lot of opportunity for them to enter into the rural market. The sector is excited about the rural population whose incomes are rising and the lifestyles are changing. There are as many middle income households in the rural areas as there are in the urban. Thus the rural marketing has been growing steadily over the years andnow is bigger than the urban market for FMCGs. Globally, the FMCG sector has been successful in selling products to the lower and middle income groups and the same is true in India. Over 70% of sales are made to middle class households today and over 50% of the middle class is in rural India. The sector is excited about burgeoning rural population whose incomes are rising and which is willing to spend on goods designed to improve lifestyle. Also with a near saturation and cut throat competition in urban India, many producers of FMCGs are driven to chalk out bold new strategies for targeting the rural consumers in a big way. But the rural penetration rates are low. This presents a tremendous opportunity for makers of branded products who can convert consumers to buy branded products. Many companies including MNCs and regional players started developing marketing strategies to lure untapped market. While developing the strategies, the marketers need to treat the rural consumers differently from their counterparts in urban because they are economically, socially and psycho-graphically different to each other.This paper covers the attractions for the FMCG marketers to go to the rural, the challenges,the difference between the rural and the urban market and the suitable marketing strategy with the suitable example of companies and their experience in going rural.

Technology scaling has been increasing in semiconductor and thereby EDA industry. Nowadays, 28nm CMOS designs are in full production and 16nm design rules and infrastructure are already in place for designs starting later this year. Design productivity and increasing cost of doing design have become a major issue in large scale design projects. In addition, now that the physical limits are beginning to impact scaling [11], the question is: What are the challenges at 28nm and what would design look like going into 28nm and beyond? In this paper, we will focus on the major design and CAD challenges associated with 28nm and beyond.

This research paper examines the planned approaches to health and safety performance by a educational institute selected from Bahrain (Name of the institute is kept confidential). To achieve this purpose, specific industry related research, online research, and health and safety surveys were conducted following the gap analysis as helpful tools. In gap analysis of health and safety management system it was found that the selectededucational institute does not have adequate arrangements for emergency evacuation and accident or incident reporting system. Thereafter, the report proposes the institute to establish effective emergency evacuation procedures and communicated to all staffs and trainees through intranet, this low cost media could also use to make available different forms required for reporting of an accident and incidents or occupational diseases.All these measures can ensure a safe working environment that is without injuries or accidents in the institute.

SECURITY AND PRIVACY ISSUES ON SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES: AN ANALYSIS ON ATTACKING SCENARIOS

Protecting personal information’s privacy has become a controversial issue & liability among online social network providers and users. Most social network providers have developed several techniques to decrease threats and risks to the users’ privacy. These risks include the misuse of personal information which may lead to illegal acts such as identity theft, predators, stalking, online victimization, and fraud. To give few examples, in May 2015 Russian hackersemployed malware to target a number of banks worldwide stealing upwards of $900 million in one year alone. Russian hackers also developed iOS7 malware designed to access user’s personal data. This study aims to measure the awareness of users on protecting their personal information privacy, as well as the suitability of the privacy systems which they use to controlprivacy settings. Survey results show high penetration and high percentage of the use of smart phones for dataservices but the current privacy settings for online social networks need to be improved to support different type of mobile phones. Because most users use their mobile phones for Internet services, specific privacy settings that are compatible with mobile phones need to be developed. The method of selecting privacy settings should also be simplified to provide users with a clear picture of the data that will be shared with others. Results of this study can be used to develop a new privacy system which will help users control their personal information easily from different devices, including mobile Internet devices and computers.

INTERNSHIP IN TEACHER EDUCATION

The Internship Schools shall take responsibility in engaging and assessing student teachers, and shaping their attitude and experiences on school and community engagement. The schools in any state are under the administrative control of the State Education Departments. A State Education Department needs to maintain the data regarding institutions offering various Teacher Education programmes and the sanctioned intake of each institution. The department shall work out the requirement of internship school for each TEI keeping in view the norms prescribed by NCTE. The NCTE Regulations, 2014 stipulate that a TEI for an intake of 100 students, should have easy access to 10 schools for the organization of internship programme. (This shall be reduced to 5 schools for an intake of 50 students). The criteria for allocation of schools to TEIs should be developed, which may include distance from the TEI, distance from residence, accessibility etc. The allocation of schools to TEIs could be done at the district level in the office of the District Education Officer. The district education 6 officials shall visit the lab school at least twice during the internship, and at least once in the first year of internship to take stock of the ongoing programme in the internship school.

A mind map is a innovative and creative thinking tool that can combine text, color, graphic images, lines, and symbols for visual representation. This can not only sort out the logical framework, but also help diversify people's thinking, cultivate people's innovative thinking, make users' thinking more active, and improve their ability to analyze and solve problems. Mind Mapping as a creative process was introduced as a culturally relevant pedagogy aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning experience in an education. Through interactions with Mind Mapping students are very artistic and visual and enjoy group-based activities. Now, the effective use of mind maps can also enhance the user's memory, good interactive students centric learning experiences, improve learning and work efficiency, and solve problems creatively and efficiently. Teachers can better plan their teaching with the help of mind maps, and arrange the content of class time reasonably and effectively.
The present paper focused on Mind Mapping Strategy (MMS) to Promote Student Engagement in Geography Education with prime objectives are (i) To understand the concept of Mind Mapping Strategy (MMS) (ii) To illustrate the Importance of Mind Mapping Strategy (MMS) in the Student Engagement in Geography Education (iii) To discuss the benefits of using mind mapping in daily Teaching-Learning Geography classroom. The Researcher used methodology of the research is a different type involving an interpretative, conversation and study secondary sources, like books, articles, journals, thesis, university news, expert opinion, and websites, etc.
